I was born in London, but have lived in Sweden for many years. A graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), I was formerly on the staff of Radio Sweden and have long experience of international and educational broadcasting.
I am the author of the book on Sweden in the Blue Guide series (London and New York); What You Should Know About Sweden, containing much information not likely to be found in any guide book; Binny and Belloe, a fantasy tale intended for young and old; and The Sorcerer Of Stockholm, a novel set in the Swedish capital. Another title is How To Write Much Better English. I have also edited and/or translated many works, taught English at most levels, lectured on a range of subjects, run an intensive course for company employees needing to write documents in English, and travel a great deal, mainly to the UK, California and New Zealand (for some years I was a contributor to Radio New Zealand's then Viewpoint programme), though it would take a lot to make me leave Sweden in the summer, where my favourite place to be is in the Stockholm archipelago. I was a member of the Amnesty International group that existed at Swedish Radio-TV during my time there, for a long while as Group Secretary, and am a founder member of The Bookworms book club in Stockholm.
